Pasture Management.....

Yes, summer is almost here! There are a few things that you should know when turning your horses out on overgrazed grass. Depending on how many horses you have it is always a good idea to "split" up the herd. Overgrazing can cause the grass to come in at a higher sugar content. If you let the grass grow over a period of time and then let you horses out to graze the sugar level is lower and under more control. If you keep you pastures closed off from your four-legged equine friends then you can keep your pastures from being overgrazed and ruined. This also depends on how many acres you have for your horse if you have a lot of land then it is always a good idea to fence some off. If you only have a few acres then try to keep them in a couple hours off of the grass to prevent them from getting too much grass! Too many horses in one area can cause your grass to stop growing in some areas from being overgrazed too much. Pasture Management this Summer is ALWAYS a good idea! Happy Grazing!
